Sweden's DNKL are a band that we've flirted with on many occasions but never really managed to 'get into' fully. That all changed this week with their new single, 'Otherside', a pulsing track which operates on the darker fringes of Scandipop; it's just too good to ignore. Set for release on the revived Different Recordings, 'Otherside' weaves defined dancefloor hooks into a bed of soothing wispy synths and navel-gazing lyrics about vanity, desire and wanting what you can't or don't already have. It's by far and away our favourite song from the trio, and here's hoping they continue in this thrilling new vein. - DC
